one gear… no fears?

The Salsa Casseroll is in. Despite complaints from the sore on my ass, I rode it in to work a few days this week already.
I think the gear ratio (48 on front – 18 tooth on the back. about 72 inches) is appropriate for this hilly city at my fitness level. I could probably run it even larger on my commute, but I think it would make it difficult to take it out on longer rides. I’ll feel it out I suppose.
I am really digging it so far though. The tires are a massive (for me) 37mm. I run 28′s on the IF. They are so big, in fact, that I the 43mm Honjo’s that I have for it won’t fit them. I either need to get a tire a size down, or fenders a size up.
I have an appointment next Monday to get the components on the two bikes swapped out.
*high five*

Sweet!
I hav e been thinking this might be the best deal going for an off the shelf rando ride, this based only on perusal of info. I have been thinking that if I am caught in a snow storm of $500 dollar bills, I might get one of these for Mrs C.
What fun to have the dillemma of a range of tirre sizes! I rode Gran Bois last year, they really are very cushy but just not tough enough for the redneck roads iof the south sound. I’m on Riv Jack Browns now, so far so good.
I’m stuck at Dulles AP in DC. My flight out of National at 7:00am was overbooked, so I stepped up for a later flight (and one free RT ticket) little did I know that ‘the next available flight’ would be at 6:pm out of Dulles! sometimes my brilliance leaves a little to be desired; 12 hours at the AP, loving that.
At least the flight home will be non stop and first class.
congrats on the new ride! two things to try out
1) skids (you’ll need cages/straps on those pedals though)
2) backwards circles! this can’t be stressed enough. start practicing now!
so are you gonna use this on brevets too?
Brevets? The thought of spinning down Steven’s Pass hurts my groin.
